The NEWPORT FOOD FESTIVAL will return to the city this weekend, kicking off with the Friday night FOOD FESTIVAL SUPPER. The award-winning Mercure hotel host the event for the second year in a row. With a menu created by food festival patron and Michelin star holder Hywel Jones, executive chef at Lucknam Park Hotel and spa, it is sure to be an enjoyable evening for all!
Saturday will see the city bustling with the traditional food market and Newport Market will host the chef demonstrations which will include the final of the Teen Chef competition run by Newport Youth Academy.
The popular talks and taster sessions will be back this year, and there will also be art and craft workshops for children and families to enjoy throughout the day.

Music and street food stalls will take over High Street on the Sunday plus, new for this year, the newly opened Corn Exchange will be hosting a free children’s disco.
For the second year running, Sunday will continue the food and entertainment theme. Street food traders, live music and street entertainment will take over High Street bringing a splash of colour with a carnival vibe. For the younger visitors to the festival, the Corn Exchange will be hosting a children’s disco.

For the second consecutive year the Newport based Indie rockers take to the stage. This time you can expect a full band performance from a band who have busily established themselves as ones to watch on the South Wales scene.
11.45am Tom Anthony
Cardiff based musician, who “makes rock & roll for adults”, is coming on the release of his debut album and is ready to introduce you to his unique brand of rock & roll.
12.30pm Hair Dye
Get ready for the infectious sounds of Hair Dye. The four piece punk rockers from Newport promise choruses that will still be popping into your brain next week.
1.15pm The Serene Scene
Fresh of the release of their new single the band will be making their Newport debut on Sunday. The band mix elements of alt-rock and pop, they’re not afraid to express difficult emotions and push themselves musically.
2pm Upstairs at Hanna’s
Alternative rockers who pride themselves on catchy vocals, strong storytelling, soaring lead lines, and grooving rhythms. They are an amalgamation of influences which means their music is not pigeon-holed to one style of rock.
2.45pm Tears for Beers
A four piece covers band hailing from Pontypridd who have been relentlessly gigging at festivals across South Wales this summer bring their brand of music to the stage on Sunday.
4pm Taffy Was a Thief
Just like Eurekas, Taffy Was a Thief will return for the second consecutive year. A band who promises a smorgasbord of genres ranging from pop to rock, and blues to soul.
