An amber warning for wind has been issued as Storm Darragh arrives – and some of us will be under a rare red warning tomorrow. Forecasters say the storm is likely to bring “very strong winds and heavy rain” through the weekend.

Events are being cancelled this weekend as high winds of up 90mph could pose a “danger to life” due to flying debris and falling trees.

Storm Darragh is expected to hit us (South Wales) in the early hours of Saturday morning and the red weather warning is in force from 3am until 11am on Saturday, 7th December. The Met Office has also issued a amber warning for rain which is in place from 3am until 6pm on Saturday.

Many phone services are receiving alerts and warnings so be prepared for an incredibly loud siren coming from your device. In TGI Friday’s at St David’s Cardiff, pretty much the entire restaurant was filled with the sound of the alarm as it was delivered en masse.

The Old Severn Bridge will be closed on Saturday, the Second Crossing may close if the gusts are above 80mph.
