It’s very likely that at sometime during our life we will be affected, in some way by breast cancer. It could be directly, or perhaps a relative or friend. In our office we most certainly have and supporting breast cancer research is high on our agenda.

The statistics speak for themself….

  • There are around 56,000 new cases of breast cancer in women every year: that’s over 150 cases every day.
  • In men, there were about 400 new breast cancer cases each year.
  • Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, representing 15% of all new cancer cases, and 30% of new cancer cases in females.
  • 96% of breast cancers were in women over 40.
  • 18% of breast cancers were in women under 50 and 82% in those 50 or older.
  • 24% of breast cancers occurred in women over 75.
  • Each year, there are around 8300 in situ breast carcinoma cases, a non-invasive form of breast cancer which if untreated may lead to invasive breast cancer.
  • In 2021, 85% of breast cancers in women were diagnosed at stage 1 or stage 2 (early-stage breast cancer which hasn’t spread beyond nearby lymph nodes).

Everyone has some risk of getting breast cancer, but there are easy everyday ways to help reduce your risk and be healthier all round.

But your risk of getting breast cancer is dependent on many factors.  Some are related to your genes. Others depend on what happened to you in the womb and growing up, your environment, and how you live your life now.  Whatever your susceptibility, you can help yourself by adopting strategies, like maintaining a healthy diet or changing your lifestyle, to give yourself the greatest protection possible.

Although uncommon, men can also develop breast cancer. Several, but not all, risk factors are common to both men and women.

Everyone has some risk of getting breast cancer

When we hear about fundraising efforts across South Wales we, of course, want to lend our support, and the team at EMPRESS PIERCING are doing just that throughout November.

Their mission has always been about empowering people to love themselves in their own skin. No matter who you are or the path life has taken you down, there is always a space for you at Empress. They have created safe, welcoming environment where self-expression is celebrated and everyone is encouraged to feel confident in their body.

This November, Empress Piercing is focusing on giving back to the women and men who have suffered from breast cancer, by donating 100% of all profits from Nipple Piercings to Breast Cancer Research UK. Wanting to show their support for the brave individuals who have battled this disease and to contribute to the vital research that saves lives every day.

Natasha Harries, Co-Owner and Director of Empress Piercing told us….

“Nipple Piercings, for many people, represent empowerment and reclaiming your body, especially for women and men who have gone through breast cancer treatments.

This campaign allows us to support those people and fund critical research that makes a real difference.”

Kate Barnfield, Co-Owner and Director, added…..

“By supporting Breast Cancer Research, we hope to give something back to the strong people who have faced this battle. It’s our way of standing with them, offering not just our services, but our solidarity in their journey toward healing.”

By choosing to get a Nipple Piercing at Empress this November, you are not only making a personal statement of strength and self-love, but also directly contributing to the fight against Breast Cancer. Their studios aim to uphold the highest standards and our skilled team ensures every client feels comfortable and safe throughout the process.

You can follow their journey and share your support on social media by tagging @EmpressPiercing and using the hashtag #PierceT oHelpOthers. All funds raised will go towards groundbreaking research and early detection efforts by Breast Cancer Research UK.
