Stay Local Rules Lifted From Saturday

From tomorrow (Saturday) it’s all change here in Wales. The “stay-local” rules will be lifted from and unrestricted travel will be allowed once again within our borders.

This easing of restrictions means we are the first UK nation to halt travel restrictions since lockdowns were put in place in January.

Not only does this mean we’ll be able to travel anywhere within Wales but self-contained tourist accommodation will be reopening, which means a little holiday could be within sight. This includes hotels with en-suite facilities and room service, as well as caravans and holiday homes where facilities are not shared. If you are staying in self-contained accommodation you must also be from the same household or support bubble.

A trip to Tenby is back on the cards, as long as you live in other parts of Wales

The ban on non-essential travel to and from other UK nations will continue for at least another fortnight.

The Welsh government is also relaxing rules on meeting outdoors and in gardens, allowing up to six people from two different households to meet and exercise outdoors in Wales and organised outdoor activities and sports for under-18s will resume.

On Thursday, Mr Drakeford said………

“These further relaxations are part of our careful and phased approach to unlocking the restrictions and enabling people and businesses to resume their activities in the safest possible way.

“We’re only able to do this because of the sacrifices everyone across Wales has made over the last few months – everything you are doing to keep your loved ones safe is also keeping Wales safe.

“The public health position remains stable; our incredible vaccination programme goes from strength to strength – we have headroom to make these changes.”

From tomorrow there will be a limited reopening of outdoor areas of some historic places and gardens, while libraries and archives will also be able to reopen.
